Difference between western ghats and eastern ghats class 9
From the Tapi River to Kanyakumari, the Western Ghats run north-south parallel to the western coast. However, from Orissa to the Nilgiri hills, the Eastern Ghats runs in a north-east to south-west direction parallel to the eastern coast. The Western Ghat has an average breadth of 50 to 80 kilometres.
The western ghats include evergreen woods as well, but coffee is the principal crop farmed there. Anaimudi is the highest point in the peninsular plateau, located in the Western Ghats’ Anaimalai Hills. Anaimudi, at 2695 metres or 8842 feet, is the highest peak in the Western Ghats. It is known as the South Indian Everest. Jindhagada is the tallest mountain in the Eastern Ghats (1690 meters). Arma Konda and Sitamma Konda are two more names for it. It’s also possible to compare the height levels of the tallest peaks in both ghats. The eastern ghats’ Jindaghara is 1690 metres high. This provides us a good notion of the height disparities between the hills in both ghats.
