It is the method of separation of grains from the stalk.It is the method of separation of grains from the chaff.
In this process, the stalks are dried and then beaten to shake off the attached grains.In this process, the mixture of grains and chaff to fall from a height. The chaff being lighter is blown away and the heavier grains collect in a heap.
Not aided by the wind.Aided by the wind.
It is done before winnowing.It is done immediately after threshing.
Example: stalks of wheat, rice are separated from stalk.Example: The husks of wheat and rice are separated from the grains.
