In animals, the phenomenon of urinary elimination of nitrogen mainly as urea is called ureotelism. It requires less water than ammonia for excretion. Example: humans.

Uricotelism:
The phenomenon of elimination of nitrogen mainly as uric acid is known as uricotelism. It is the least toxic and requires the least water. Eg. lizards, birds.
