A wheel and axle consists of a wheel rigidly attached to a rod called the axle. A pulley consists of a wheel with a groove that has a rope wrapped around it.
There are two cylinders, if one rotates, other one also rotates. The wheel of pulley rotates when force is exerted on one end of the rope.
It is used in pedals of cycle, drilling machines, doorknobs, steering wheels, screw drivers etc. It is commonly used to draw water from well.
