It is made up of the continuously dividing cells. They are differentiated from the meristematic tissue which has lost the capacity to divide.
It has dense cytoplasm. It has cytoplasm in the living cells and not in the dead cells.
It has a prominent nucleus and does not have vacuoles. They have the nucleus and a large vacuole.
The cells are small in size and are isodiametric in shape. The cells are large in size and are of different shapes.
They show very high rates of the activity and metabolism. They do not show such high rates of the activity and metabolism.
They do not contain reserved or stored food. They contain reserved or stored food like starch in them.
They have types like:
Apical
Intercalary
Lateral
They have types like:
A)Simple permanent
Parenchyma
Collenchyma
Sclerenchyma
B)Complex permanent

Phloem
