Differentiate diffusion and active transport.
Diffusion:
It is the movement of the molecules or ions of a substance from a region of their higher concentration to a region of their lower concentration.
Active transport:
It is the movement of the molecules or ions of a substance from a region of their lower concentration to a region of their higher concentration region using energy.

2. It is movement of solute or solvent molecules. | 2. It is the movement of ions only. |
3. Cell energy is not required. | 3. Cell energy is required in the form of ATP. |
4. It occurs through a non living permeable membrane. | 4. It occurs through a living selectively permeable membrane. |
