Solution

The correct option is C

₹ 2200

We know that S.I. = PRT100

where, S.I. is the simple interest, P is the principal, R is the rate of interest per annum and T is the time(number of years).

For the 1st year:
Principal = ₹ 20,000, Rate =10% p.a., Time = 1 year
Interest=20000×10×1100 =200×10 = 2000
Amount at the end of 1st year
= ₹ (20000+2000) = ₹ 22000

For the 2nd year:
P= ₹ 22,000, R= 10% p.a., T= 1 year
Interest=22000×10×1100 =220×10 = 2200
Thus interest paid for the second year = ₹ 2200
