Directions:- Study the following information carefully to answer the question given below.
Eight people - A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H - are sitting around a circular table facing towards the centre, but not necessarily in the same order. All of them are equidistant. Each one of them teaches different subjects viz., English, Hindi, Mathematics, Biology, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry and Accounts, but not necessarily in the same order.
The person who teaches Accounts, sits third to the right of G. C is an immediate neighbour of G. The person who teaches Mathematics sits second to the left of C. B sits third to the right of H. H teaches neither Accounts nor Mathematics. Only two persons sit between C and the person who teaches Physics. A and F are immediate neighbours of each other. Neither A nor F teaches Accounts.
The person who teaches English sits second to the right of A. Two persons sit between D and the person who teaches Hindi. D does not teach Accounts. The person who teaches Psychology is an immediate neighbour of the person who teaches Accounts. The person who teaches Physics sits second to the left of A. One of the immediate neighbours of G teaches Chemistry.
Four of the following five are alike in a certain way based on the given sitting arrangement and hence form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to the group?
To solve this question, each information that is given in the sentence format should be considered as statement I, II . . .. Here there are 14 sentences and we shall consider statement I to the first sentence; statement II to the second sentence and so on. The first statement should be used as the lead information and fix the position of the persons respect to it. Here, the accountants sits third to the right of G. So, we can represent it as follows:
From statement I
Now from statements, I, II, III, XIII and VII
But from statement VIII, neither A nor F teaches Accountancy, so the above arrangement may be as follows:
From statement III,
From the given information in the question, it is cleat that E teaches Accounts.
From statement IV
Here the position of all the persons except D, becomes fix. So the only left position is for D.
From statement IX: G teaches English
From statement X : C teaches Hindi
From statement XIII: B teaches Physics
Now, we can say that A teaches Biology and D teachers Psychology.
The final and correct sitting arrangement is as follows:
Except in the pair B and A, in all others the first person is second to the right of the second person. In B and A, the first person is second to the left of the second person.
Hence, the required answer is (E).
