Directive principles of state policy are guide lines or frame work for the parliamentarians. They are visions of the founders of the constitution. They are the philosophical part that governs all the actions of the government. There are the spirit of the constitution.

eg: Socialist ideas- India is a welfare state, equal distribution of resources etc
eg: Gandhian Ideas- Improve rural areas and cottage industries
eg: Liberal Ideas - Encourage science and technology.
