The Supreme Court is the Apex Court of India. It not only succeeded the Federal Court of India but also replaced the British Privy Council as the highest court of appeal. It is primarily the court of appeal and has the power to hear appeals against the judgment of the lower courts. It exercises wide appellate jurisdiction.
