Solution
1. Epithelial tissue: Epithelial tissues line body surfaces and cavities. Epithelial tissue does not have blood vessels and are dependent upon the underlying connective tissue for nutrients. The cells of the tissue are connected to each other via cellular junctions and it has two distinct surfaces. The apical surface is exposed to the exterior while
the basal surface is adjacent to the underlying tissue.
2. Connective tissue: Connective tissues are characterized by the presence
of extracellular matrix. The extracellular matrix is nonliving material composed of protein fibers and
ground substance. The protein fibers are composed of collagen or elastin. The ground substance fills the spaces between the cells and the fibers.
3. Muscle tissue: Muscle tissues are made up of elongated cells which is used for contraction. The muscle contracts and relaxed with the help of proteins actin and myosin.
4. Nervous tissue: Nervous tissue composes the brain nerves, the peripheral nerves and the spinal cord nerves. It is specialized for the communication between the cells via nerve impulses. Neurons communicates within themselves via electrical and chemical signals.
