Two major areas of discrimination against woman in India includes:
1.Women are deprived of education, especially in rural areas.Their education is less than men due to social norms and fear of violence. There persist the view that education for girls does not bring anything in returns to parents and their future roles are mainly reproductive and includes agricultural labour which requires no formal education.Boys are send to school as expectations from hem are higher as they are considered as the future bread earners.
2. Gender disparities in nutrition are evident from birth to infancy.Malion among girls is the major cause for their death below the age of five.Girls are breast-fed less frequently than boys during infancy and even during childhood and adulthood boys get the nutritious diet while girls are deprived of it.
