Discuss briefly the importance of Gram Sabha.

Gram Sabha consists of all the adult members of the village. This body forms an important part of the Panchayati Raj system because of the following reasons:

1. They elect the members of the Gram Panchayat.
2. They have the right to take decisions regarding the various problems of the village.
3. They keep a check on the panchayat by making sure that it does not misuse its powers.
