Solution

Soil erosion:-

  1. The fine particles of top layer soil are being carried away by means of wind or water is called soil erosion.
  2. The soil erosion can be due to natural causes like floods, high wind, ocean waves, etc.

Causes of soil erosion:-

(a) Strong winds:-

Uncovered loose soil gets eroded when it is exposed to strong winds that winds carry away the soil particles to other places.

(b) Heavy rains:-

The rain falls on the unprotected topsoil, rainwater washes it down into the streams and rivers, etc.

(c) Dust storms:-

The huge amounts of loose soil shifted from one place to another place in the form of dust storms.

(d) Frequent floods:-

The frequent flooding of rivers is another cause of soil erosion because the fast-moving water in the rivers removes the topsoil of the fields near the river banks and carries it away.
