Discuss few problems caused due to urbanisation in our ecosystem.

The transformation of an area from an underpopulated or rural area into an urban area is known as urbanization. It involves industrialization and introduction of dense population. Urban populations consume more food, consumable goods, energy and water than rural populations. It affects our ecosystems.

Following are the problems caused due to urbanization in our ecosystem:-

• Deforestation: Due to urbanization, population increases in a large amount. A large number of forests are removed to provide shelter to this huge population. It leads to the problem of deforestation.
  
• Pollution: Urbanization takes place mostly due to industrial growth. Large industrial complexes also increase the amount of precipitation, air pollution and water pollution.
  
• Lack of biodiversity: Due to urbanization, ecosystem starts losing its biodiversity. Organisms living in forests and water start disappearing and sooner those organisms extinct. This causes the imbalance in our environment.
