Dear Student,
The following steps have been taken by the government to improve Rural Societies:
a. Since Rural economies are dependent on agriculture, major steps have been taken to bring about Land reforms like abolition of Zamindari system.
b. Efforts have been made to encourage cheap credit to rural areas.
c. Encourage non agrarian activities like manufacturing of jaggery, setting up small units.
d. Also government has taken steps to encourage farmers to diversify their crop production, go for multiple farming
e.Schemes like Kisan Credit Card or providing minimum support price, remunerative and procurement prices for important crops have been initiated by the government but there is no check to ensure its implementation and to check whether its benefits reaches the targeted beneficiaries.
f.Further, emphasis has been given on rural development, on focus on backward regions, by encouraging investment in backward areas, providing for transportation facilities.
g. Government is also making an effort to encourage investment in backward rural areas, provide electricity to all villages etc.
