• The French made Salabath Jung, a son of Asaf Jha, as the Nizam of Hyderabad. An officer named Bussi was stationed in Hyderabad for his protection by the French.
• In the Carnatic region, Chandsaheb was the Nawab, who had also been set up with the help of French.
• Robert Clive attacked Arcot, the capital city of the Carnatic and defeated Chandsaheb. Chandsaheb was imprisoned and killed in this war.
• In the place of Chandsaheb, the English made Mahammad Ali, the son of Anwaruddin, as the Nawab of Carnatic.
• Thus, the second Carnatic war ended with the Treaty of Pondicherry. The French recalled Dupleix because it wanted peace. The war cemented the position of the British in India and the dream of the French of setting up a colony in India was shattered.
