It is the process in which a liquid state is converted into a gaseous state (water vapour) by the application of heat.
Factors affecting the evaporation are:
Temperature: Higher the temperature of the liquid and its surroundings, the faster will be the rate of evaporation.
Surface area: We know evaporation is a surface phenomenon. The larger the surface area occupied by the liquid, the faster will be the rate of evaporation.
Humidity of the surroundings: Humidity is the moisture content of the atmosphere. The greater the humidity of the atmosphere, the evaporation will be less.
Air circulation or wind speed: The presence of a breeze or another source of air circulation directly contributes to the rate of evaporation.
