Solution

Instructions: Address the following points in your answer.
  • Strengthening of the INA.
  • Impact of the INA.
Solution:
  • Subhash Chandra Bose strengthened the Indian National Army (INA) because he believed that Indian independence was of utmost importance and the Japanese Army could help them in achieving that.
  • He recruited the soldiers who were the prisoners of war when the Japanese army defeated the British Army. Later on other Indians and even women joined the INA.
  • The INA was successful in bringing the country together indirectly. When they were defeated by the British Army and put on trial, the entire country forgot about the issue of Hindu-Muslim identity and separatist politics and came together in support of them.
