India is a vast country. It has different soil types and climatic conditions in different parts. A crop variety to be successful all over India should be able to show good results in each and every part of the country. Due to this, testing of new plant varieties is done in simulated conditions which mimic the diverse climatic conditions and soil types in the country. If a crop variety passes this test, then only it is considered suitable for introduction in the market.
