Chemistry plays the following role in the field of agriculture-
- Fertilisers – the introduction of artificial fertilisers has revolutionised the production and yield of crops by providing the necessary nutrients for the growth of plants.
- Pesticides – these are the chemicals that kill the insects and other pests that harm the crop and affect the yield.
- Weedicides – these chemicals kill the unwanted plants (weeds) that grow with crops.
- Preservatives – these chemicals are added to grains and seeds to prevent insects and rats' infestation that destroys the stored grains.
