Open in App
Solution

The symbiotic association between fungi and plants are called as the mycorrhizal association. The fungi help in absorption of the salts of phosphorus from the soil which is then used by plants as nutrients. Also, these fungal filaments increase the surface area for absorption of other mineral nutrients. Hence, mycorrhiza can be used as biofertilizers. The fungi which belongs to genus Glomus forms mycorrhiza with the roots of the plants.
