Excretion:

  1. The process by which the body removes the nitrogenous wastes is called excretion.
  2. Carbon dioxide, water, salts, etc. are the different compounds removed from the body as waste.

Role of Liver in excretion:

  1. The liver is the largest gland in the body and plays a key role in excretion.
  2. The excess amount of amino acids are converted to ammonia and is again converted to urea by the liver.
  3. Alcohol and drugs and poisonous substances are broken down by the liver and it filters all the blood in the body.
  4. Bilirubin which is a waste product of RBC breakdown is excreted out through bile.
