​a. Jammu and Kashmir, has been accorded a special status under Article 370 of the constitution .
b. Being a disputed region, There are many provisions of the Indian constitution which can only be applied provided they are ratified by Jammu and Kashmir's assembly. The state has its own constitution, its own law on citizenship.
c. Jammu and Kashmir may be having its own constitution that aimed in granting it a degree of autonomy to manage its own affairs and control its affairs, but certain matters are under the control of the Union.
d. This is because Jammu and Kashmir being a disputed region and is a terrorist infested region.
e. Besides that, North eastern states, Himachal Pradesh and Utthrakhand are under special category status as these states have hilly terrain, have international borders thus they get special economic assistance from the centre in terms of grants.
