Healthcare is not just a basic human right but is also very essential for the social and economic development of any individual. A healthy population is a prerequisite for the complete development of nation. Hence, it is the prime responsibility of the government to provide healthcare facilities to every citizen of this country at a very affordable price. Today, the healthcare facilities are not provided in a balanced manner to everybody, especially to the weaker sections of the society. Therefore, special attention must be given to these sections of the society to cater to their needs.
Government should open more hospitals, research laboratories and dispensaries to provide healthcare facilities to people who cannot afford the services of private healthcare. The services must be priced reasonably in order to make them affordable. Research in the medical field also needs to be incentivised to ensure that expensive medicines can be manufactured locally and a knowledge base is built. This requires a massive investment and a greater allocation of national resources, whether monetary or human, in the sector of healthcare.
