Ascariasis is an intestinal infection that occurs when the eggs of a parasitic roundworm, Ascaris lumbricoides are ingested. There is an increase in the number of WBCs in the body i.e., leucocytosis and decrease in the number of eosinophils (eosinophilia) can be observed. There is a very high fever, restlessness, disturbed sleep, abdominal pain and extensive haemorrhage and inflammation of pancreas can be observed.
