Question

x=sinθcos2θ,y=cosθsin2θ, find dydx at θ=π4.Insert 0 if the value is not defined and 1 otherwise.

Open in App
Solution

x=sinθcos2θ,y=cosθsin2θ,

logx=logsinθ+12logcos2θ,logy=logcosθ+12logsin2θ

Differentiating w.r.t θ

1xdxdθ=cotθtan2θ,1ydydθ=tanθ+cot2θ

dydx=y(tanθ+cot2θ)x(cotθtan2θ)

Clearly at θ=π4, dy/dx is not defined
