Physical change: The type of change in which the physical properties of a material change. It can be changed in shape, state of matter, color, density, size, odor, solubility, etc but no new substance is formed.
During this change, only the physical traits of the substances are changed. The chemical composition or its internal properties are not affected by these changes.
Dissolving sugar in water is an example of physical change. It is a physical change as the sugar dissolves in water and no new substances are formed.
