The equations of the planes are,

2x+3y+4z=4(1)

4x+6y+8z=12 2x+3y+4z=6 (2)

The given planes are parallel to each other.

The formula for the distance between two planes Ax+By+Cz+ d 1 =0 and Ax+By+Cz+ d 2 =0 is given by,

d=| d 2 d 1 A 2 + B 2 + C 2 |

Here,

A=2,B=3,C=4 d 1 =4 d 2 =12

Substitute the values in the above expression.

d=| 64 ( 2 ) 2 + ( 3 ) 2 + ( 4 ) 2 | =| 2 4+9+16 | d= 2 29

Thus, the distance between the planes is 2 29 .

The correct option is (D).
