Solution

Aerobic Respiration:

  1. Aerobic respiration is the process by which oxidation of organic food occurs in the presence of oxygen.

Anaerobic respiration:

  1. Anaerobic respiration is the process in which an incomplete breakdown of glucose occurs in the absence of oxygen.
Aerobic respiration Anaerobic respiration
Carbon dioxide, water and energy are produced in this process.Carbon dioxide and ethyl alcohol are generally produced.
After glycolysis, pyruvic acid generated goes into the mitochondria for further breakdown. After glycolysis, the pyruvic acid remains in the cytoplasm and is further broken down into smaller molecules.

It is denoted by the equation:

Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon dioxide + Energy + Water

It is denoted by the equation:

Glucose → C2H5OH (Ethyl alcohol) + CO2
