Dry Acidic Deposition | Wet Acidic Deposition |
Dry acidic deposition occurs in areas where the weather is dry. The acids along with smoke and dust particles settle on the ground, buildings, homes and trees. About half of the acid depositions on earth are a result of dry depositions. | Wet acidic deposition refers to acid rain, fog and snow. Gases such as sulphur dioxide react with water vapour present in the air to form dilute acids such as sulphuric and nitric acid. These acids fall back on the surface of the earth through various forms of precipitation. |
