Subsistence Farming Commercial Farming
This type of farming is practised for self-consumption. This type of farming is mainly practised for commercial use.

2. Dry and humid farming:
Dry Farming Humid Farming
A method of farming carried on in areas which receive scanty rainfall and where irrigation is either absent or limited. A method of farming carried on in areas which receive sufficient rainfall and where crops are grown without the help of irrigation.
Mainly practised in peninsular India and in northwestern India. Mainly practised along the west coast and areas receiving heavy rainfall.
Jowar, ragi, gram, peas etc., are important crops. Rice, sugarcane, jute etc., are important crops.
