  • Planning refers to deciding in advance about what to do, how to do and when to do. It involves determining the goals and preparing a course of action to be taken to fulfill these objectives. It is the first and foremost function of the management and is continuous in nature.
  • Whereas, Controlling is a process to measure the deviation of the actual performance from the standard performance. It includes taking corrective action. It is the end process of management.
