Windward side of the Mountain :
1. The side of the mountain which faces the moisture laden wind is called windward side mountain.
2. This side of the mountain gets heavy rainfall, (e.g) Mumbai on the west coast.
Leaward side of the Mountain :
1. The other side of the mountain which does not face the moisture laden is called leeward mountain.
2. This side of the mountain may not get the rainfall, (e.g) Pune.
