(i) The predecessor of $- 2$ is $- 3$

because $- 3$ is $1$ less than $- 2$

$∴ \frac{24}{- 3} = - 8$

(ii) The successor of $- 2$ is $- 1$

because $- 1$ is $1$ more than $- 2$

$∴ \frac{- 82}{- 1} = 82$
