Divide polynomial $3 x^{3} - 8 x^{2} + x + 7$ by $x - 3$ using synthetic method and write the quotient and remainder.

Solution

Dividend = $3 x^{3} - 8 x^{2} + x + 7$
Divisor = $x - 3$

Opposite of −3 = 3

The coefficient form of the quotient is (3, 1, 4).
∴ Quotient = 3x²+ x + 4 and Remainder = 19)
