Semiconservative DNA replication:
The daughter DNA formed as a result of DNA replication has a parental strand and a newly formed complementary strand.
This mode of DNA replication is called a semiconservative model of DNA replication.
Semi-discontinuous replication:
The replication on the 3′−5′ template strand is continuous and the newly synthesized strand is called leading strand. On the 5′−3′ template strand replication is discontinuous and the newly synthesized strand is called lagging strand. Hence, the overall replication process in DNA is considered as semi-discontinuous in nature.
