BASIS OF DIFFERENCE MAHATMA GANDHI MARTIN LUTHER KING
BORN/DEATH Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 and was killed on January 30,1948. Martin Luther King was born on January 15,1929 and was killed on April 4,1968.
ISSUES THEY FOUGHT He fought for Indian independence from British rule and for the rights of the Indian poor. He fought for civil rights of citizens and against the racism and segregation.
SUCCESS ACHIEVED He led many successful movements like racism movement in South Africa, Champaran Satyagraha, Dandi March etc. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs. He even received a Nobel Prize for combating racial inequality through non violence.
