Do animal cells have a nucleus?

Open in App
Solution

Animal cells

  1. Animal cells are eukaryotes. Many types of cells come together forming tissues and organ systems performing specialized functions.
  2. These cells consist of a membrane-bound nucleus and numerous membrane-bound cell organelles.
  3. The nuclear material, DNA, is organized into chromosomes. It is present within the centrally located nucleus.
  4. This compartmentalization helps in the regulation of gene expression, transport of RNA and proteins, processing of mRNA, and ribosome biogenesis.
  5. Matured red blood cells and cornified cells of hair, nails, and skin lack a nucleus.
