Question

Do animals have similar meristematic tissues?

Open in App
Solution

Part 1: No meristems in animals
Animals do not have meristematic tissues. Hence, the growth phase gets static after maturity in animals. However, cell division continues in our body to replace damaged and worn out cells in certain body parts. For example, continuous growth of nails and hairs signify cell division in epidermis.
