Question

Do capacitors store voltage

Open in App
Solution

  1. When a voltage is applied across the capacitor, electrons are drawn away from one plate and accumulated on the other plate.
  2. Even after the voltage has been removed, one plate has more electrons than the other, while the other plate has no electrons.
  3. Even if the source of voltage is removed, this results in a voltage across the capacitor's plates. Hence, the capacitors can store voltage.
