Question

Do enzyme increases activation energy?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Enzymes are biological catalysts. They are the proteins that act as a catalyst for the reactions that occur inside the living organisms.
  2. They make the reaction faster by providing an alternative pathway for the biological chemical reaction and thereby decreasing the activation energy (minimum energy required by the reactant molecules in order to convert into a product) required for the reaction and hence make the reaction faster.

So, no enzymes do not increase activation energy.
