Isotopes are defined as atoms of the same element, having the same atomic number but different mass numbers.
Since the atomic number is same, therefore the number of protons will be the same in isotopes.
However, the mass numbers (number of protons + number of neutrons) are different in isotopes. Therefore, isotopes have different numbers of neutrons.
