Lymphocytes are white blood cells that are present in the blood and lymph tissues that are produced in the bone marrow.
They include natural killer cells, T cells, and B cells.
Lymphocytes have a large nucleus with little or no cytoplasm. These cells are characterized by the presence of polyribosomes.
Mitosis is the cell division process in which a cell replicates its chromosomes and segregates into two identical nuclei for cell division.
The large and medium-sized lymphocytes are mitotically active and are confined to lymphoid tissues where they undergo differentiation to form small lymphocytes.
The small lymphocytes are incapable of undergoing the mitosis process and circulate in blood and lymph.
