Nucleic acids:

A complex organic substance present in living cells, especially DNA or RNA, whose molecules consist of many nucleotides linked in a long chain are called nucleic acids.

  1. Nucleic acids are polymeric macromolecules composed of repeated units of nucleotides.
  2. They have DNA and RNA and contain classes of four biochemical components.
  3. Both these types of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) are made of elements – oxygen, phosphorus, nitrogen, hydrogen, and carbon.

Hence, nucleic acids contain oxygen.
