Question

Do plants breathe Co2?

Open in App
Solution

Respiration in plants:

  1. Plants don't breathe in the same way that humans do.
  2. They do, however, need carbon dioxide (together with water) for photosynthesis, which produces sugar and oxygen
  3. As we all know, leaves feature microscopic pores called stomata that allow gases to exchange.
  4. The oxygen consumed via stomata is used up by cells in the leaves to disintegrate glucose into water and carbon dioxide.
