Answer: Yes, plants need oxygen for respiration.
Plants obtain their oxygen from the surrounding air, the O2 enters the plant body through minute openings present on the leaves called stomata.
The diffused O2 is utilised by the plants in breaking down the food material (glucose) into CO2 and subsequently a large amount of energy is released. This released energy is stored in the cells as ATPs (Adenosine triphosphate).
The ATPs are used by the plants to carry out all the required life processes like growth, metabolism, reproduction, etc.
