Question

Do plants respire during the day? If not, then how do they survive?

Open in App
Solution

Plants respire both in the daytime and at night. As plants also perform photosynthesis in the daytime the carbon dioxide released in respiration is taken up by the plant itself for photosynthesis. Thus in the daytime release of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by plants are lesser. But at night photosynthesis stops and release of carbon dioxide through respiration takes place more.
