Open in App
Solution

Plasmids:

  1. Plasmids are self-replicating DNA that is tiny and double-stranded.
  2. They are extrachromosomal DNA molecules.
  3. They are circular DNA which are much smaller than chromosomes.
  4. The copy number refers to how many copies of the plasmid are present in each bacterial cell.
  5. Most plasmids have one or two copies per chromosome, however certain tiny plasmids, such as the ColE plasmids, can have up to 50 or more.
