Question

Do Roots Respond To Light?

Open in App
Solution

Roots:

  1. Despite the fact that roots develop underground and in darkness, they appear to be light sensitive.
  2. Many plants respond to light in different ways, and others only respond to a specific wavelength of light.
  3. The shady part of the root is rich in auxin and grows slowly, causing the root to bend away from the light.
  4. Because the shady side root has more auxin, it develops slowly and fades away from the light.
